There are lots of parties associated with weddings, like showers and bachelor or bachelorette parties, but when you’ve chosen a destination wedding, there are some other parties you might want to throw before, during and after your event.
Engagement Party – One of the first parties you may enjoy is your engagement party. This event is especially relevant if you’re going away to get married and many of your friends won’t be able to come to celebrate with you. It’s a great way for the families and friends to meet each other before the wedding, and a fun way to announce your engagement and your destination wedding decision.
Bridal Attendant Party – When your bridal party arrives at your destination wedding, why not have a girls’ day party to share your excitement about your upcoming wedding? You could do a shopping party in Mexico, a spa party at the beach or a picnic party in the Caribbean.
Groomsmen Party – Just as the girls have a party, the guys should have a chance to do something fun together with the groom before the wedding. It could be anything from deep-sea diving in the Caribbean, water skiing at the beach or a burro excursion in Mexico.
Parents Party – When you’re getting married, you want your parents and his parents to get along at the wedding, so why not host a party of your own with just you, your groom and both sets of parents. You can invite the wedding party, too, if some of the attendants are family members. It’s important for the parents to meet and get to know each other a little. They will be sharing important moments in your couple life, eventually including grandchildren and the activities they participate in. A get-together for the parents to spend some time together can be a special way for them to share in your wedding joy.
After Wedding Party – Once the wedding’s over, you may want to have a gathering with your parents and close friends to celebrate the success of the event and send you on your way to your honeymoon and your new life together. Something small and intimate can be the best party you can have.
At-Home Party – When you’re back from your destination wedding and honeymoon, it’s time to break in your new place, your new china or your new couple friends. Some of your friends may want to have an at-home reception for you if they weren’t able to be at your wedding. Enjoy their presence and their gifts, and let them know how much you appreciate their friendship and love.
