Picking a Florist for Your Destination Wedding

Planning a destination wedding can be a challenge, since you are very likely far away from your venues and vendors. The issue of how to find a florist from such a distance is a problem that all brides face, but it doesn’t have to be a major stressor. Follow this list to help guide you through the process.

1. What are you looking for in your florals? You might have a very specific idea about your bouquet or just colors you want to use or even just a few words to describe the tone of the wedding’s look, but any information you have handy can help you find the perfect florist during your search.
   
2. Where is your wedding? If it is at a hotel or venue that does weddings often, you or your wedding planner should consult the staff at the venue. They may have floral packages that you can purchase or a vendor that you are required to use with your contract for renting their space. At the very least, the will be able to offer suggestions about what florists and flowers have worked best for brides in the past.
   
3. Do you have a florist that you know and love where you live? You can contact your florist to see if they have any contacts or resources for people near the location of your destination wedding who can set you up with a great deal on beautiful flowers for your special day.
   
4. Have you googled the area? Google can provide yellow pages for the use of the modern bride for anywhere in the world your wedding could possibly be located. If none of your contacts have turned up a perfect florist, you can definitely find a few names this way.

Once you have some names, you should contact the florists and explain what you know you want. They can create samples and send you digital photographs, and via phone and email, you will be able to figure out which florist is going to work the best for you, based on the quality of the arrangements and prices. Tear out pictures of arrangements you love from magazines, and send them to your florist. They can often recreat the same look. It is always good to have multiple options to actually see and choose from, so that you can rest assured that you have found the perfect flowers for you. Don’t be afraid to ask any florist to see photos of their past work or for references. You want to be sure you have a reputable vendor, so that flowers are not something you have to be worried about on your wedding day!
