Ready, Pack, Go - Destination Wedding Beauty Mistakes To Avoid

The date has been set. You’ve picked out the perfect wedding dress. Now, the only thing left is to pack and board the plane flying to a beautiful location where you’ll exchange vows with the person you love. But, a perfect day can be dampened by a beauty disaster. Whether your wedding is in Jamaica, Maui, or Cabo San Lucas, one thing is for sure; you want your wedding to be flawless. So, plan ahead and don't let these mistakes ruin your wedding day.

• Plan your arrival for at least two days before you exchange vows. This will assure that you will not miss your wedding and also helps alleviate any jet lag.
• Pluck or wax your eyebrows no sooner than a week before your wedding. The same time-frame applies to waxing your legs.
• Avoid last-minute beauty treatments. A facial the day before the wedding can actually lead to break-outs.
• Nerves are bound to happen prior to your special day, so a massage might be in order to relax.
• Crash diets are not the answer at the last minute. You want your dress to still fit the day of the wedding, and going on a crash diet could result in its being too loose on the day of your beach wedding (or worse, you pass out at the alter!).
• A cut and color right before your departure is not a smart option. Your hair needs to adjust. Visit the salon at least two weeks prior.
• When applying makeup, look at yourself in both a magnifying mirror and while standing in natural light. This will let you know that you look sensational.
• Makeup may change color or disappear from your skin after a few hours' wear. Practice how your makeup will react as if it is your wedding day by going outside. Then, bring some touch-up products, such as blotting papers or lip gloss to reapply throughout the day.
• If you choose a long veil, consider gluing small, clear fishing line weights to the tips. This will help weigh down your veil so it doesn't take off in an offshore breeze.
• Keep away from self tanning lotions. They are the biggest culprits of streaks and discoloration on the skin. If you want a natural looking tan, go get a professional airbrush tan at least two days prior to your wedding day.
• The prime key to sunburn is no protection. The Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico are in the tropical zones, where the sun index much stronger. Use caution and sun screen, even if just walking about.
• If you are spending time pool or beach-side before your wedding, make sure to avoid tan lines on areas that will be exposed with your dress. A destination bride "must have" is a strapless swimsuit top.
• Make sure your undergarments are secure and do not peek through. Mishaps can happen easily but knowing in advance will make help them avoidable.
