Fun destination-themed thank-you cards

The wedding’s over, the guests are gone, and you’re thinking about heading home after a glorious honeymoon at your perfect destination. But wait, there’s still one more wedding thing needing to be done. Thank-you cards are the last big "to-do" for the bride and groom, and one they should do as a couple. All those people who gave you gifts to start your new life together deserve a nice note of thanks to let them know how much you both appreciate their thoughtfulness and support.

Your destination wedding was a huge success, so why not carry the theme through to the end? There are lots of ways to make your thank-you notes as special as your destination wedding was. You could use postcards from your destination location to show them how beautiful the area is, with a quick note of thanks on the back. You can choose a bright, eye-catching flower or tree or a picture of you together against a dramatic backdrop to print on the front of your note cards, a reminder of the spot where you got married. It’s especially nice if they weren’t able to attend your big day, but sent you something nice anyway.

For a beach destination wedding, how about writing “thank you” in the sand and taking a picture to put on the cover? Or picking up a sand dollar or palm tree leaf, and using it (or part of it) to make stamp-pad prints on the front of your notes. Or maybe pick a cute card with a picture of flip-flops and large-brimmed sunhat or a glorious beach sunset to say your thank yous.

A lot of couples like to put throw-away cameras on each reception table and encourage guests to take pictures at their tables. Once you’ve gotten them developed, you could use a photo of each guest to make their thank-you card, so they can enjoy photos of themselves at your wedding, and remember the people they were with when you and your spouse were toasting and cutting the cake. Or have someone go around the reception taking Polaroid pictures to commemorate your guests, and stick them into a simple and more traditional thank-you note.

Nowadays, scrapbooking is big, so you could make your own cards with fabrics, stickers or stamps of the things around your destination wedding – palm trees, coconuts, Mexican masks or pineapples, a Hawaiian hula dancer or roasted pig, a cruise ship, snorkels and flippers or anything else that shows how much fun you and your guests had at your destination. Use your wedding colors for the notepaper, tie with a tiny ribbon in your bridesmaid’s dress colors or use white for your lovely gown. All of these things show how much you wanted to say thank you in a way as memorable as your wedding.
