The Polynesian Cultural Center

Shopping in Honolulu
In Waikiki, Honolulu there is a diversity of stores to suit any shopper’s tastes. You can shop at upscale boutiques at the Ala Moana Shopping Center or you can head to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet for souvenirs and bargain items. The best place to shop for local arts and crafts is the International Marketplace on Kalakaua Avenue. The marketplace is an optimal location for souvenir hunting. See Historic Honolulu
Honolulu has a rich history and there are many historical sites of interest in the city. The ‘Iolani Palace was the official residence of the last two monarchs of the Hawaiian Kingdom. It is in fact the only royal palace that exists in the United States. It is a great place to learn more about Hawaii’s history and culture. A guided tour at the palace costs $20 for adults and $5 for children. Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to take the tour. The King Kamehameha statue located across the street from the ‘Iolani Palace is one of Honolulu’s most popular tourist attractions. The Coronation Stand and Pavilion are located on the southwest lawn of the ‘Iolani Palace and feature a large gazebo. You can often see Hawaiian musicians playing nearby in the afternoons.
