Kauai Wedding Activities

Activities for Destination Wedding Couples and Guests in Kauai

Kauai, which is nicknamed the “garden island,” is home to a number of breathtaking natural attractions.  There are many fun activities to enjoy in Kauai, allowing destination wedding couples and guests to stay busy throughout their entire stay.

Aerial Tours

Helicopter and airplane tours offer destination wedding couples and guests with dramatic views of Kauai’s spectacular natural scenery.  From a helicopter you can enjoy views of Mt. Waialeale’s crater, Waimea Canyon’s gorge, and the rugged green mountains of the Na Pali coast.  In an aerial tour, you will see areas that are otherwise difficult to get to or inaccessible.  It’s a great way to see all that Kauai has to offer even if you are only going to be there for a short time.  The blues and greens of the Pacific Ocean also look amazing from an aerial tour.

Ziplining Tours

For an eco-adventure that will allow you to get a bird’s eye view of Kauai’s breathtaking natural attractions, consider taking a ziplining tour.  You’ll be able to zipline above tropical jungle canopy and see streams, lush foliage, and panoramic views of the area.  Ziplining tours also give you the opportunity to learn about the island’s unique flora and fauna.

Whale Watching Tours

If you are planning to have a destination wedding in Kauai between late November and early May, you will have plenty of opportunities to go on a whale watching tour.  Boat tours head out to sea and give you an intimate view of whales in their natural habitat.  Some popular areas for whale watching tours in Kauai include Kukui O Lono Park at Kalaheo, Poipu Beach, and the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge.

Hiking Tours

Nature lovers who love a good hike into the jungle will have bountiful opportunities to take in Kauai’s stunning natural scenery on a local hiking tour.  Hiking to the base of Mt. Waialeale is a popular hiking route in Kauai.  This trail into the heart of Kauai is where the movie, “Jurassic Park,” was filmed.  The base of Mt. Waileale is the wettest spot on earth.  If you enjoy kayaking as well as hiking, you can take a hiking tour to the Wailua River and then hop on a kayak to explore the local scenery.  You will also have the opportunity to swim in a pool at the foot of a beautiful waterfall on the Wailua River.

Boat Tours in Na Pali

Head to the Na Pali coast if you’d like to take a boat tour and explore breathtaking sea caves while taking a stop to swim with dolphins along the way.  A boat tour on the Na Pali coast will allow you to visit valleys, waterfalls, and secluded beaches.  You’ll also be able to view marine life such as sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals.  From January to March, these boat tours are perfect for whale watching.

Tubing
For destination wedding guests with families, tubing is a very fun activity to enjoy in Kauai.  The ditches of the Old Lihue Sugar Plantation provide a safe and enjoyable opportunity for tubing.  A tubing trip there will give you spectacular views of the island as you explore the tunnels and ditches of the Old Lihue Sugar Plantation that were built by hand in 1870.

Golfing

Some of the world’s greatest golf courses can be found in Kauai.  You can find a golf course to suit your needs in Kauai no matter what your budget is.  Each course has something unique to offer.  The Kauai Lagoons Golf Club is located in a secluded area of Lihue and features an 18-hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus.  The course was voted the most underrated golf course in Hawaii by Travel Leisure Golf.  The Poipu Bay Golf Course is an award-winning 18-hole course that was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.  The course features a practice range, pro shop, golfing lessons, a restaurant, equipment rentals, locker rooms, and putting/chipping greens.
